| 6 July 2008 1hr Thunder League Pole – Double S 2nd – Rubbins Racin 3rd – Kolumbian Karthel – did not turn up 4th – Rookies 5th – Whacky Racers 6th – Toka 1 7th – All the gear, no idea 8th – Toka 2 9th – Batty + Clive This morning they are going backwards around the track. Using one of the long track configurations but coming past the pits, rather than going around the main loop. The team that used to be known as Thomas Cook are now known as All the gear, no idea and the team consists of Charlie Cook and Daniel Powley. During the ten minutes practice, team All the gear, no idea were the fastest team and they held the fastest practice lap of 46.26. On lap 1, Rubbins Racin got themselves up in to 1st place from starting seconds. Lap 2, Dan from team All the gear, no idea, got up in to 2nd place from starting way down in 7th place and he is currently 1.38 seconds behind 1st. Toka 1’s David had a bit of an off during the first few minutes which has dropped him from starting in 6th place down to 8th place and bringing up the rear, 8.38 seconds behind 7th place. He has a lot of catching up to do now. Good luck Dave. On lap 4, Dan got up in to 1st place, and is now 2.24 seconds ahead of 2nd place, Rubbins Racin. 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th places (Whacky Racers, Double S, Rookies and Toka 2) are all having a nice, tight battle with one another. There is 0.of a second between them all. On lap 6, Dan got the fastest lap of 45.80. He is currently the only one to be lapping in the 45 seconds. On lap 12, as he was just pulling in to the pit lane to do a driver change, Dan got another fastest lap of 45.72. How did he manage that when surely you are supposed to be going slower on that lap as you know you have got to come in to the pits?! Now on lap 16 and first place, Charlie has just lapped last place Phil from team Batty + Clive. One of the guys out of team Toka 2 has just hit the tyre wall as he was coming around the top corner, near the traffic lights. This little mistake has lost him a bit of time so he needs to get back in to it quickly. Rubbins Racin Little Chris and Whacky Racers Wayne are having a good, close battle for 2nd place. On lap 24, Charlie got the new fastest lap of 45.62. He was pleased with that as he beat his team mate’s fastest lap. 25 minutes have passed, Whacky Racers Wayne has now moved up to 2nd place. Rubbins Racin are now down to 3rd, 2.74 seconds behind. On lap 42, Dan got another new fastest lap of 45.57. 10 minutes later, at the 35 minute mark and Rookies have made it up to 2nd place. This has dropped Whacky Racers down to 3rd, 0.95 of a second behind. There are now 18 minutes of the race left and the sky is looking a bit black, it actually looks like it could rain before the race has ended. That will please some of the drivers but upset the others! On lap 57, team All the gear, no idea got the final fastest lap of 45.50. After Toka 1 got off to a bad start earlier on, at the beginning of the race, they have done well and are now up in to 5th place, 0.88 of a second behind 4th place. Only 9 minutes of the race left now and it has just started to rain! Uh oh. Whacky Racers have made it up to 2nd, dropping Rookies down to 3rd and Rubbins Racin down lower to 4th place. Just 2 minutes to go and it is raining harder now and the guys out there are finding it hard to stay on the track. Batty from team Batty + Clive has just had a little spin out on the top corner but it
hasn’t dropped him any places as he cant get any lower down as he is already bringing
up the rear in 8th place and 45.94 seconds behind 7th place. He has no chance of catching
them up now! |
