| 18 July 2008 2hr ProKart Endurance 9 teams entered tonight’s race. Only 7 of the 9 teams are actually competing though. A.K.C Colin and Misfits Tom are just in this race as a practice and wherever they finish they won’t score any points. The grid positions below where picked out of a hat tonight: Pole – Dan + Sean 2nd – Asbos 3rd – Big J + Ben 4th – Spraggy’s 5th – Boys Toys 6th – Rookies 7th – RFH 8th – A.K.C 9th – Misfits Tonight they are racing the normal way around the track – forwards! So anyway the race starts at about 7pm. Sean from team Dan + Sean got off to a good start, but by the time he gets around to the finish line to mark the 1st lap he has Ben from team Big J + Ben right up his back bumper. In fact he is so close behind that he could be literally riding along on it! On lap 1, Boys Toys came in to do an early pit stop. 5 minutes of the race has passed, Ben has taken the lead but there is only a 0.23 of a second gap between him and now 2nd place Sean. On lap 8, Sean got the fastest lap of 39.75. Matt from team Spraggy’s is doing well up in 3rd place from starting in 4th place. There is a 0.68 of a second between him and 2nd place Sean. Matt has roped his dad, Chris in to race with him tonight. On lap 11, Sean got another fastest lap of 39.63. 12 minutes have gone, Boys Toys are bringing up the rear but they are one stop up on everyone else as they have already done one and are about to do another one whereas the other teams are now only about to do their first change. 2 minutes later, at the 14 minute mark, and Spraggy has dropped back down a bit from
2nd place and he is no w 2.01 seconds behind still 2nd place Sean from team Dan + Sean. Asbos Andy is doing a 2hr solo as his team mate; Colin Thurnell has a broken rib from an incident that happened earlier this week. Tom from Misfits has done 16 laps and has now gone off on to the square for a break and to maybe change the settings on his kart? 18 and a half minutes have now passed by, Dan + Sean are still holding 1st place. Boys Toys a re in 2nd, 3.53 seconds behind. Big J + Ben are in 3rd, 5.49 seconds behind. A.K.C has made it up to 5th place, 3.14 seconds behind still in 4th place Andy from Asbos. On lap 24, Docky got a new fastest lap of 39.60. He was dead chuffed with that and when
he came in and saw it he said to me ‘I hope you have written that down in the race
report!’ 15 minutes later, at the 40 minute mark and the top 2 teams remain in the same positions. But A.K.C has moved up to 3rd place, 0.61 of a second behind. Big J + Ben are down to 4th place. Rookies are still holding 5th place, 0.52 of a second behind. On lap 55, Spraggy got a new fastest lap of 39.41. 41 minute mark and Misfits Tom has rejoined the race. 4 minutes later and we are at the 45 minute mark, Asbos are now in 1st place. A.K.C is up to 2nd place. Dan + Sean are in 3rd place, as they have just swapped drivers and they are now 2.15 seconds behind 2nd place. 1 minute later and it has just started to rain! It is not raining hard though it is just a few odd spots. So it hasn’t affected the lap times that much as the teams are still lapping in the 40, 41, 42 and 44 seconds. 56 minutes have now gone and Misfits Tom has retired from the race, having done a total of 25 laps. Maybe the rain has put him off a bit?! We have just now passed the 1hr mark and it is raining down hard now! Everyone is finding it very hard to keep there karts on the track and facing the right way! Shane from team RFH has just done a full 360 degree spin and kept going. Nice one! 1hr and 7 minutes has gone, A.K.C is now in 3rd place, and he is 1 lap and 14 seconds behind. But he has now decided to pull in to the pits to have a tea break and to help Dan + Sean change there slick tyres for some wets. Now team Rookies have taken the lead and they are 31.40 seconds ahead. Asbos are in 2nd
place, 1 lap and 30 seconds behind. Boys Toys are 3rd, 1 lap and 3 seconds behind. In 4th
are Dan + Sean, 1.02.78 behind. 5th Big J + Ben, 28.63 seconds behind. 6th are
Spraggy’s, 2 laps and 14 seconds behind. A.K.C is down in 7th place, 14.62 seconds
behind as he is still in the pit lane on his tea break. RFH are in 8th, 2 laps and 38
seconds behind. Now there are only 3 minutes to go and Dan + Sean are back in 1st place, 26.36 seconds ahead. In the end, Dan + Sean took the chequered flag with a 27.82 second lead over 2nd place
