2hr ProKart Endurance

Starting with 15 minutes qualifying and these were the top 3 qualifiers:

1st = Docky + Rusty
2nd = Sean + Daniel
3rd = Colin + Charlie

It's raining! What a wicked way to start the race. It's joy the two fat boys - Colin and Charlie are feeling, not bitterness or resentment of bothering to turn up like some of the others. They are quite happy for it to be raining because they reckon that they are the bee's knees in the wet. Let's see shall we?!

Rusty was away to a smooth start. They chose to race his MS kart, as it was the fastest in qualifying.

At this precise moment in time it is persisting down so i should think that all the teams are racing on wet tyres.

A.K.C nearly didn't make it to the start of the race as they were altering the set up on their kart.

Some people don't seem very eager to race tonight - could be something to do with the weather! In the wet it's meant to be a better racing line if you use the outside of the corners rather than going in to them tightly.

Fastest lap by Rusty with a 48.60 on lap 5.

Colin + Charlie were leading but they have just now broken down. They go off to the workshop to fix it. Turns out that they had a clutch problem and needed a new one.
Rusty took the lead but 5 laps later he made a slight mistake and handed the lead over to Sean. A.K.C's Phil then moved up to 2nd. It sounds like we have an aeroplane going around the track because Rusty's front bumper is scraping on the ground and making a hell of a racket!

46 minutes have passed and A.K.C's Shanks is leading the race. Kid racers Sean + Daniel have dropped out of the race because they are too cold to race. Their hearts just are not in it to race tonight.

A.K.C's Karlos is a lap and 44.70 seconds ahead of 2nd place team Chris + Crew. They are doing very well. Normally by now Chris's team mates have bent a stub axle but not so far tonight they havent! (Touch wood!)

New fastest lap by Colin with a 48.53 on lap 54.

1hr has passed. A.K.C have just done their fuel stop which has left them with just a 13 second lead over Chris + Crew. However they haven't done their fuel stop yet so it could all change.

1hr and 10 minutes in and A.K.C have lost the lead. Their driver Steve Aldridge is trundling along, now turning in to the pits. They have a problem. I think it is something to do with the clutch as i heard someone shout 'get a new clutch out.' So organised!
Something on Charlie's kart is making an odd squeaky sound. I hope it isn't anything too serious.

Docky is struggling to keep the lead, as his front bumper is again scraping very low on the ground. They swap drivers and sort that. But now the back metal bumper is sending sparks flying. And i think that is the end of the race for them.

Terry from team Roughton Racers seems to like the pit wall as he has spun and nose dived in to it 3 times in one fifteen minute stint.

All the teams that are getting in first place are struggling to keep it together there. First it was Colin + Charlie, A.K.C, and then Docky + Rusty and now it has been handed down to Chris + Crew.

We have half an hour to go and A.K.C have just rejoined the race in 7th place out of 8. 28 minutes to go, Chris + Crew are now 3 laps ahead of 2nd place Team Gary.
Chris + Crew team - Dunc, Malc and Paul and their team manager Chris Harfield (who isn't racing) are absolutely thrilled or 'over the moon' as Chris himself put it to be in 1st place. But all they are really after is a trophy!

Team S.C.S Racing (new) are doing pretty well. One of their drivers Colin Allen looks like a little kid in the kart. He can hardly see over the steering wheel. Bless him

Team Colin + Charlie and team A.K.C have fought it all the way and they must feel that tonight's race has been a long one, or maybe not long enough. They have both been winning and then have broken down which has cost them winning the race. Even though they both lost a lot of time whilst repairing their karts they have still managed to gain some time back and make it back up the field.

In the end, Colin + Charlie have managed to get up to 2nd place which is a place up from where Charlie thought they would finish. And A.K.C have made it up to 5th which is where they finished in the last race. A special well done to them both and of course to the winners, Chris + Crew.
