Kids 30 minute solo ProKart Race

Race 1 of 2

Pole - Sean Haller
2nd - Ashley Hornigold
3rd - Matt Spragg

We have 10 kids racing tonight. They started off with 2 formation laps, just to get the tyres warm.

Hot shot Sean Haller is starting on pole as he finished last in September's race, but I don't think he did all of it anyway as he had kart trouble.

The lights turn to green and Sean races off ahead. Behind him in 2nd, 2.60 seconds down is Chris Woods who came up to 2nd from his 5th place starting position.

Matt Spragg started off in 3rd place and he is currently holding it there.

Daniel Powley started off in 8th and after doing 3 laps he is now in 4th.

Newcomer, joining us tonight, is little 9 year old Ben Cook from Fairstead, Kings Lynn. He is out there tonight, not to win it, just to experience it and get used to it. He is currently in 10th out of 10 kids but it doesn't matter as long as he is enjoying it. If he manages to do the full half-hour it will be a result. He will be overjoyed.

These guys hold the top 3 positions, Sean in 1st, Chris in 2nd and Daniel Powley in 3rd.
Smiffy is up to 4th, 2.30 seconds behind Daniel. Matt Spragg is behind Smiffy in 5th.

Ben is catching up to 9th place driver Ashley Hornigold. He is now only 0.16 of a second behind Ashley.

11 minutes have gone and Matt Spragg has dropped all the way down to 10th - last!
Now with 13 minutes gone, Daniel Powley has got up to 2nd. Chris Woods has dropped to 3rd.

Fastest lap by Sean Haller with a 36.63 done on lap 18.

18 minutes have now whizzed by. Sean now has a 22.57 second lead over 2nd place driver Daniel Powley. Sean has now lapped some of the back markers.

Chris Woods pulled up on the grass on one of the corners because he had a problem but it was quickly fixed in about a minute or so, so off he went again.

Nick Manias took over 4th place from Chris Woods.

3 minutes to go. At the minute the track is damp but its not raining. 3 hours before the race actually started the rain was bucketing down and we didn't think many would turn up but we still have 10 kids racing anyway.

Only 1 minute left and it's raining! Speak of the devil! Everyone is spinning. That was so unexpected that everyone was unprepared for it and it left everyone spinning left, right and centre. Anyway that was a great way to end race 1 for the kids.

Race 2 of 2

Reversed grid from race 1 done earlier:
Pole - Ashley Hornigold
2nd - Matt Spragg
3rd - Ben Cook

For the start of this second race for the kids it was very wet. Just minutes earlier it had bucketed it down, now the track is very wet. I hope all the kids are racing on wet tyres!
After 3 minutes, Sean Haller makes it up to 1st place from the back of the grid. Daniel Powley is in 2nd, 3.67 seconds behind. Sam Smith is in 3rd and Chris Woods in 4th.

Later on Matt Spragg overtakes Chris to gain 4th place from him.

15 minutes have passed. 15 minutes left to go. Sean is 20.89 seconds ahead of 2nd place Daniel Powley. In both of the kid's races, Sean has always held a huge lead over the 2nd place drivers.

Ashley is doing 1 minute laps, all the others are doing low 50 second laps. What's happened? Plus he has dropped down to 10th.

Fastest lap by Daniel Powley with a 47.38 done on lap 30.

Sean and Daniel are the only ones to currently be lapping in the 47 seconds.

Another faster lap by Daniel, 46.78 done on lap 32. So now at the moment he is the only one to be lapping in the 46 seconds.

Ben Cook and Jake Futter are doing some neat 360-degree spins out there. They could pass for ballerinas!

The top 3 finishing positions in both kids' races were the same. Great racing boys!
