Adults 45 minute solo ProKart Race

Race 1 of 2

Pole - Ashley Hornigold
2nd - Ben Cook
3rd - Nick Manias

Newcomer to last months ProKart races was 9 year old Ben Cook. Tonight he got off to a good start from his 2nd place start position, despite the weather.

All was fine until 5 minutes before the race started. It started to rain! What horrid weather but I suppose at least the rain kept away most of the cold and frostiness.

Anyway the start of the race was delayed for a little while whilst the kids changed their tyres, (hopefully to wets)!

On lap 2, Ben Cook was dropped to 5th place as the regulars (hot shots) overtook him. So Sean Haller is now in 1st, Daniel Powley in 2nd and Smiffy in 3rd.

Surprisingly Daniel Bowman is now in 3rd as he just overtook Smiffy! Daniel started off in 4th, so he has now gained one place. Keep up the concentration Bowman and you'll do fine. Daniel Bowman is also known as 'Dangerous Dan' as his driving is a bit dangerous at times. Fellow ProKarter and rival Matt Spragg a.k.a Spraggy gave this name to him.

We have 9 kids competing tonight. Jake Futter is the missing one. He is here though he is just watching. He was not allowed to race tonight because he has a bad attitude towards his mummy dearest. Behave Jake and lose the attitude!

Ashley is a couple of laps down because his tyres were too hard as his dad just shoved them on without lowering or checking the pressure in them. So he had to come in to get them sorted out - lowered!

17 minutes have gone. Daniel Powley is now in 1st. His mate Sean Haller is in 2nd, 1.34 seconds behind 1st place.

Sean has one up on Daniel though as Sean has the current fastest lap of 50.85 done on lap 13.

Many of the younger lads and the lighter ones are down the bottom end of the field as they are probably finding it hard to drive in these conditions. They keep spinning instead. But as long as they are having fun and are happy that's all that matters.

Only 6 minutes of the race left. Daniel Bowman got shown the nudging board for mucking around with Smiffy and nudging him.

Daniel Powley and Sean Haller are 2 seconds apart from each other and a lap and 13.77 seconds ahead of 3rd place driver Chris Woods.

Chris Woods will soon be making his way up to the adult's league, as he is nearly 16 years old.

Daniel Bowman is still maintaining his 4th place position, with Ben Cook in 5th, 0.98 of a second behind him. So it's very close. One mistake and Ben could overtake him.

Race 2 of 2

A reversed grid from the results of the kids race, race one, done earlier on this evening

Pole - Ashley Hornigold
2nd - Nick Manias
3rd - Matt Spragg

8 kids started the race.

I think in the warm up laps something went wrong on Daniel Bowman's kart because he didn't manage to start the race.

Ashley got off to a better start this time round. But, Houston, we have a problem! Ashley is racing on different tyres - illegal tyres to be precise. His tyres are making a huge difference as it is making him a couple of seconds quicker than everyone else, which isn't fair.

Matt Spragg has retired after only doing 13 laps. It turns out that both his and Daniel Bowman's throttle cables snapped. Maybe they were powering the gas too much!

After a little while, Daniel and Matt decide to fix their karts. They then decide to go out and do the last 5 minutes of the race to try and salvage some much-needed points.

Ashley got the fastest lap of 49.77 done on lap 6.

Sean Haller pinched the lead from Daniel Powley on the last lap because Daniel's engines kept cutting out which meant he couldn't go fast enough to hold Sean off. So Sean won it by 0.50 of a second ahead.
