2hr ProKart Endurance

Last round of the summer series

Tonight we started off as always with 15 minutes qualifying. This is where the 9 teams competing qualified:

Pole - RoadRunner - with the overall fastest qualifying lap of 36.50
2nd - Charlie + Dave - their fastest qualifying lap of 36.88
3rd - Dan + Sean - 37.01
4th - Bad Lads - 37.02
5th - The Woods - 37.50
6th - Rookies - 37.83
7th - S.C.S Racing - 38.15
8th - No Idea - 38.29
9th - Saga Tours - 38.98

During the qualifying, Keith Woods from team The Woods lost a wheel. I saw him parked up on the grass down the bottom end of the track. I didn't know who it was at first because I think he has a new helmet on.

Anyway after the refuelling was done, 9 teams started the race.

Solo driver Karlos from team Bad Lads comes in after the first lap to do an early pit stop. As he is racing by himself tonight he has to get out of the kart, jump over the barriers, get a pit ball out of his bucket and get back in the kart. So by the end of the 2 hours he should be knackered!

They are racing a very fast track tonight. It is going right around the outside of the track. So if it stays dry they should get some flying laps in.

RoadRunner's Steve Aldridge got off to a flying start. He did have a bit of a head start though as he started off on pole, plus he is light and can get off the start line quickly.
6 minutes in, Steve Cumbers from new team No Idea is sitting stationary outside the pit lane entrance, not able to make it in to the actual pit lane area.

10 minutes have passed now and it has started to rain.

5 minutes later, 3 out of the 9 teams are in the pit lane, changing tyres. The teams in there are The Woods, Saga Tours and Rookies.

Charlie + Dave Marshall have now pinched the lead from former leaders RoadRunner.
At the minute they are all sliding around, so the team positions are changing pretty rapidly.
17 minutes have now gone and team No Idea rejoin the race. But not for long as they decide to retire a little while later.

42 minutes have gone by quickly. It is now raining very hard. RoadRunner are now in the pits changing tyres. 2 minutes later, Charlie + Dave and Dan + Sean are in the pits, too changing tyres.

RoadRunner have the fastest lap of 36.59 done on lap 9. That was done earlier on in the race, obviously when it was dry as the majority of the teams are now lapping in the high 45/46 seconds.

1hr and 3 minutes have gone. RoadRunner are back in the lead, 2 laps ahead of 2nd place team Charlie + Dave.

Now there is only 27 minutes of the race left. Dan + Sean are up in to 2nd place, nearly 2 laps behind 1st place RoadRunner.

Solo guy Karlos from team Bad Lads is up in to 3rd, 1 lap and 14.57 seconds behind Dan + Sean.

Rookies are close behind him in 4th, 25.52 seconds behind.

Nearing the end of the race, it looks like we will only have 6 teams finishing it.

Rookies have no brakes so they come in and retire early. I did ask them what they needed their brakes for, as they are only poodling along.

S.C.S Racing were going too fast and lost a wheel and the inside part came off first. Blame the mechanic.

No Idea just gave us because they couldn't be bothered and they didn't want to get wet. So they are probably off to the pub now.
