| Friday 26th May 2006 2hr ProKart Endurance 'Sons beat the fathers in 2hr ProKart endurance' 13 teams entered the 20 minutes qualifying that we started off with. We have two new teams competing tonight. One of them is team Bad Lads - Lee Ashurst and Steve Futter who normally race in the solo ProKart races but they have decided to give the 2hr a try. Also a brand new team called Wild Tracks who are proving to be fairly quick and competitive. T.S.R qualified on pole with the fastest qualifying lap of 42.73. Boys Toys got to 2nd and Sean/Dan on 3rd. T.S.R's Simon Lockwood got away to a fast start. But he then loses that lead as he comes in for an early pit stop but he stays in the kart, doesn't change drivers and goes out again at the bottom of the field. A three-kart pile up took place on one of the many corners in this track configuration. This consisted of S.C.S Racing's' Steve Pope, Tortoise Racing and the new team Wild Tracks. Steve got caught on the tyres and he just thought he was stuck. The other two piled in to the back of him. But unknown to Steve he had actually bent his back metal bumper and that had stuck fast on the rear wheel so he couldn't move at all. In the end the kart had to be lifted in to the pit area to be fixed. Daniel from team Sean/Dan has taken the lead. The current top 4 teams are all very close together. The battling between them is fast and furious! Sean/Dan are still leading. Charlie/Colin are in 2nd - just 0.20 behind them. Bad Lads, Lee and Steve are in 3rd, 0.32 behind. And Boys Toys Docky is 4th, 0.26 behind Lee. 10 minutes have gone and S.C.S Racing are back out there on the track giving it there
all! Maybe Steve was giving it a bit too much though because he took the chicane too fast,
went too wide and wiped out backwards in one of the tyre walls - sending tyres flying! Bad Lads Lee has the fastest lap of 42.72 on lap 13. Chris + Crew have just done a pit stop. They are having to swap their weights (or take them on and off) every time they do a driver change. They are trying to take them off quickly so they don't lose too much time. But less speed is needed because they could drop on someone's toes and that would hurt! 17 minutes have gone, Dan + Lee are having a good, quick battle for 1st and 2nd positions. Lee is doing the first hour and coming in every 15 minutes or so to put a ball in the bucket - so it is still fair! Then his team-mate Steve will do the last hour and still come in every 15 minutes to put a ball in. It is easier to do it like that because Lee has to carry a lot of weight on his goes and Steve doesn't need any! 40 minutes have gone. Charlie/Colin are now in 1st, Sean/Dan in 2nd - just 0.14 behind. Boy's Toys are in 3rd, 6.09 sec behind. Bad Lads are in 4th, with A.K.C just behind them in 5th. Now nearly an hour has passed and it's starting to rain a little bit. But it doesn't
last long! Teams Chris + Crew and Neil/Ady are both in the pits with problems. Neil/Ady fix theirs and rejoin the race but Chris + Crew are forced to retire early. 1hr and 20 minutes have flown by. Boy's Toys have pinched the lead and are a lap and 4.13 seconds ahead of 2nd place team Charlie/Colin. Sean is 4.05 secs behind them in 3rd place. New fastest lap by T.S.R with a 42.50 on lap 117. Daniel from team Dan/Sean overtakes Charlie on the second from last stint to take the lead. Colin is trying his hardest to get by Sean in the last stint. Sons beat their fathers after intense 2hr race. The fathers were pipped by 1.03 secs. Results The winner of the free set of Kartline tyres was Mr Alan Docking of Boys Toys. |
