| Friday 11th August 2006 Adults 45 minute solo ProKart Race Race 1 of 2 Pole - Ady Gilham Tonight we have 16 adults competing which gives us an overall total of 25 racing (including the 9 kids). That is a fairly good turn out for the wet weather racing. Chris Harfield got away to a smooth start from his promoted 2nd place starting
position. 2 minutes have gone. Neil Gardner is in the new pit lane with a major problem. Now 6 minutes have passed and Chris Harfield is still holding the lead. Good on him! But on lap 8, Keith Woods takes the lead from Chris. Fastest lap by Andy Bell with a 43.67 done on lap 6. On lap 9, Keith Woods loses the lead. He made one tiny mistake and lost it. Colin Powley takes the top spot. His best mate Charlie Haller takes 2nd place, 2.22 seconds behind Colin. 10 minutes in to the race and the heavens above have well and truly opened! It is persisting it down! Colin Powley and Charlie Haller, two heavy weights, are the reigning champions in the wet. Can they keep that title?! We hope they can! 28 minutes of the race left to go. Only a few of the racers are left out there. The rest of them are in the square, in their cars, not their karts with the heaters on full blast! What wimps! 19 minutes left. The two best mates, Colin and Charlie are still battling for 1st and 2nd places. They are miles ahead of anyone else. Adam Kirby from Road Runner is in 3rd, a lap and 38.27 seconds behind Charlie who still in 2nd place. Now only 6 minutes to go, Adam Kirby has just crashed straight in to the bollards. He didn't even try to steer around the corner. His steering must have gone a bit wrong. He goes off in to the square to get his chief mechanic Tom Bullman to take a look at the kart. 3 and a half minutes left. The ones that went off earlier are now starting to drift back on, but what is the point in that?! They have already missed half of the race. New boys The Asbos have joined us tonight. They are a team of two brothers, Steve and Andy Bransby. They have done well tonight. Hopefully they will come and do the next races, next month. They are having some good battles out there with the other guys. Richard Clouting is driving exceptionally well tonight. He is up the field in 3rd place. He has Dave Marshall behind him in 4th place, trying his best to get by, but Richard is having none of it. Keith Woods has worked his way back up the field and is currently in 5th place, chasing Dave Marshall. Charlie Haller has just pinched the lead from Colin and taken the chequered flag
leaving Colin in 2nd place, 2.81 seconds behind. Results for race 1 Race 2 of 2 In a reversed grid of the adults race earlier on We only have 13 racing in this race. The other 3 have wimped out and gone home to be in the warm! This time around, Neil Gardner got away to a good start. In the first race he spent 2 minutes on the track, and the other 43 in the pits, fixing his kart. So i should think he is hoping to do better in this 2nd race. Neil currently has his mates Jason Benifer and Andy Bell behind him, in 2nd and 3rd places. But for how long can they keep it there? Let's see shall we. His other mate Ady Gilham is way down in 10th but he did start near the back of the grid. 10 minutes have passed; Charlie Haller and Colin Powley have already worked their way up to the front, from starting way back in 15th and 16th positions at the start of this race. Anyway they are now in 1st and 2nd places, again! Only 20 minutes left and it starts to rain again. This is good news because it might make the racing more exciting. Colin Powley has the current fastest lap of 52.79 done on lap 20. Keith Woods has driven his way up to 3rd place and is now 24.37 seconds behind Colin. The track must be like an ice rink. Nice and slippery. Colin and Charlie are the only two to be lapping in the 52 seconds. Only 4 minutes left. Colin is only 0.40 of a second behind 1st place Charlie Haller. But he doesn't have enough time to pinch the lead as Charlie takes the chequered flag for the second time tonight with Colin in 2nd, 1.19 seconds behind. What a wicked race! |
