| Friday 1st April 2005 Adults and kids 3/4hr solo races Round 1 - race 1 POLE = Road Runner After 2 warm up laps to warm the tyres up we had an overall total of 15 karts on the starting grid. This consisted of 12 adults and 3 kids. Mutley's' Glenn got away to an impressive start, holding out at the top of the field over Charlie from Charlie Boys. There was some very close battling happening between A.K.C's Colin and Boys Toys 2 Docky. Colin has lost a fair bit of body weight, and now he is just flying by! It just proves that weight can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on whether your heavy or light. Fastest lap by Chris Woods with a 42.26 on lap 23. Colin is now right up Docky's back bumper! There is absolutely no space between the two! Sean Sands from team Chaos 2, hasn't long got back in to pro kart racing as he has been out in Basra with the T.A. His face as he flies by the pits is a face of sheer terror. Bless him. He is moving aside so the faster ones can go by. Misfits Dave Marshall has a problem! His kart is smoking and he is driving very slowly. It turns out that he had no brakes, as the brake pads shot out, how that happened i don't know! It was smoking because the brakes were apparently mingling! His words not mine. With 5 minutes to go, Chris woods who was leading the kids field was out on the grass. Both of his engines had stopped, and they wouldn't start up or anything. With failed efforts they carry it back to the pits and start to work on it. Docky takes the flag with A.K.C only 0.22 behind him. Gutted! Results top 3 - kids After a 15 minute break, they were off again. This time there were only 11 participating as the others had broke down and were unfixable in that 15 minute interval. In a reversed starting grid we had Charlie Boys - Keith on pole, Chris Woods on 2nd and Steve on 3rd. Like last time they did 2 formation and warm up laps, and then they were off! Racing for another 45 minutes and i'm not quite sure how they do it! All i know is that
many of them can hardly move when they try and get out. Keith from Charlie Boy is off to a quick start, followed closely by his son - Chris Woods. Chris was forced to retire in the first race as his fuel pipe fell off into the fuel tank. Better luck this time Chris. A couple of laps into the race and Chris takes the lead out of his dads hands. I can smell rubber burning, but i can't quite pick out which kart it is coming from! 14 minutes left, A.K.C is in the pits with a problem and he has no clear intention of rejoining the race. Turns out that his clutch broke. Dave Marshall from team Misfits has taken a drive on the wild side in Road Runners Tom Bullmans kart. Tom thinks he is getting too old for it all!
