Race 1 of 2

Pole - Daniel Bowman
2nd - Ben Cook
3rd - Shane Willis
4th - Matt Spragg
5th - Ashley
6th - Nathan Read - not competing tonight
7th - Sean Haller
8th - Sam Smith
9th - Daniel Powley
10th - Tom Blackmore
11th - Dan Zelos

For race 1 tonight we have 10 kids competing.

On lap one and Bowman is currently still holding 1st place.

Spraggy has made his way up in to 2nd place but then he makes a big mistake which drops him from 2nd all the way down to last! He must have overcooked it coming around the bottom corner because he smashed in to the tyres, sideways on, full pelt! This incident has done damage to his side pod as the one that smashed in to the tyres is bent up in the air. And the nose cone has been completely ripped off! Basically his kart is now a mess but at least it is still drivable as he is now back on the track. Such excitement early on!

They are now on lap 3 and Sean is up in to 2nd place, 0.14 of a second behind.

Sam Smith is up from 8th in to 3rd place, 0.25 of a second behind.

Daniel Powley has come up from 9th in to 4th place.

We have 2 newcomers racing tonight, Dan Zelos and Tom Blackmore. They have finally plucked up enough courage to give it a go. Good on you lads! So far 6 minutes have gone and they are doing well. Their parents are standing on the side lines watching them anxiously and biting their nails.

Now on lap 8 and Sean is leading. Sam is 2nd, 0.19 of a second behind. Daniel Powley is up in to 3rd, 1.18 seconds behind. Bowman has dropped down to 4th, but he is keeping with Powley. He should be able to keep with him for a long while as long as he doesn't lose concentration!

On lap 10, Daniel Powley got the fastest lap of 42.22.

Tom Blackmore has just had a couple of spins which is fine because at the minute he is just getting used to it. And believe it or not it does take a little while to get used to it. Plus he and Dan Zelos haven't had as much practice as everyone else.

15 minutes have now passed. The positions remain the same. But Spraggy has got past Tom for 9th place. Tom is now down to 10th.

4th place Daniel Bowman and 5th place Ben Cook are close together. Ben is 0.53 of a second behind Dan and fighting hard to get by him for 4th place.

17 minutes and Daniel Powley is in to 2nd place. Sam has dropped down to 3rd. But the top 3 are still all very close together.

21 minutes gone, Ben Cook is up to 4th having just overtaken Bowman. Bowman down to 5th, 0.27 of a second behind.

1 minute later and the top 3 are closer together than ever. They are literally riding nose to bumper on each other!

On lap 35, Bowman gets by Ben for 4th place. Ben is now back in 5th, 0.93 of a second behind.

A little while has passed and there is only 1 minute and 46 seconds to go. The positions currently remain the same.

Under 1 minute left, somewhere on that last lap Ben just managed to pass Bowman again for 4th place.

So Sean takes the chequered flag. Daniel Powley is 2nd, 0.18 of a second behind. Sam Smith in 3rd, 0.26 of a second behind. That was such a close race and a great one to watch!

They are now coming in to the pits and I see Ben Cook and Daniel Bowman get out of their karts and shake hands. How sweet. Well raced lads!

Race 2

Grid positions in a reversed grid from finishing positions in race 1 earlier

3rd - Matt
4th - Ashley
5th - Shane
6th - Daniel Bowman
7th - Ben Cook
8th - Sam Smith
9th - Daniel Powley
10th - Sean Haller

They are all positioned on the grid waiting for there two warm up laps to begin. Ben Cook's kart stands out in the dark as he has got flashing dust caps on his wheels and there are also some lights on the front of the kart. Whatever next hey?

Anyway getting back to the race, Tom got off to a good start.

On lap one, Spraggy got up in to 1st place. Ashley has got up in to 2nd place, 1.93 seconds behind. Sam Smith is up in to 3rd, 0.07 of a second behind from starting way back in 8th.

5 minutes have gone. All 10 drivers are still close together.

Spraggy is still leading. Sam is 2nd, 0.58 of a second behind. Daniel Powley is 3rd, 0.80 of a second behind. 4th is Sean, 5.22 seconds behind. 5th is Ashley, 0.37 of a second behind. 6th is Bowman, 1.71 seconds behind. 7th is Tom, 3.82 seconds behind. 8th is Ben, 0.20 of a second behind. 9th is Shane, 0.29 of a second behind. 10th is Dan Zelos, 0.57 of a second behind. The top and the bottom 3 are the closest together at the minute.

12 minutes have gone. Sam is now leading. Daniel Powley is 2nd, 0.16 of a second behind.

3rd is Sean, 6.36 seconds behind. Spraggy is down to 4th, 0.36 of a second behind.

Bowman is up to 5th place, a long 13.69 seconds behind. 6th Ashley and 7th Ben are close. There is 0.48 of a second between them.

On lap 16 Daniel Powley got the fastest lap of 42.41.

4 laps later on lap 20 Sean beat it with a 42.37.

Now there is only 9 minutes of the race to go. 1st and 2nd places are close together. 4th Matt is close to 3rd place. 6th, 7th and 8th places are all within 0.of a second between each other.

25 minutes have gone. There is now 4 minutes to go. Ben Cook has dropped down to 10th place. He has stopped. One of his engines won't go. He has only just made it in to the pits where Colin Powley is trying hard to get it started again but to no avail! Maybe he has run out of fuel? Or dirt in the carburetor?

Anyway 42 seconds to go. Sam Smith is leading, but hang on; Daniel Powley just beats Sam to the line. So Dan takes the chequered flag. Sam finished 2nd, 0.27 of a second behind.

Well raced lads!
