| Friday 15th June 2007 2hr ProKart Endurance Tonight, like always, we started off with 15 minutes qualifying. Below, is where each team qualified and their fastest qualifying lap. 1st - Sean + Dan -
44.02 There are 8 teams competing altogether. So tonight we are not going to bother with the weigh bridge. This means that the teams haven't got to put their weights on. So that's one less hassle for the teams to have to worry about. The race finally started at about 7.25pm. Sean from team Sean + Dan got off to a fast start. The weather isn't looking very promising it actually looks like it could rain! But if it does rain that will just add to the excitement of tonight's race. What I haven't yet told you is that they are actually racing around the track (believe it or not!) - backwards! This is going to be a great race. 4 people are doing a 2hr solo. Chris Woods, Bad Lads - Karlos, Charlie and A.K.C. 10 minutes have nearly passed. Sean is still leading. He is 2.76 seconds ahead of 2nd place Sam Smith from Boys Toys. Chris Woods is in 3rd. In 4th is Bad Lads - Karlos. 5th is Rookies. 6th is new team, Team Maxis, this is their 2nd race with us tonight. 7th is A.K.C - Colin and 8th is Charlie - Charlie + Colin. Charlie and A.K.C have done their normal 6 early pit stops, on the first 6 laps and then leaving the 7th one till later for a fuel stop. At the moment the teams are lapping in the 43, 44, 45 and 46 seconds. On lap 17, Chris Woods got the fastest lap of 43.94. Charlie and A.K.C, who are at the back of the pack, are swapping 7th and 8th places, amongst themselves and generally having a good battle! 19 minutes have gone. Boys Toys Sam Smith is parked up in the lay-by. It turns out that he hit one of the kerbs and the chain dropped off. Charlie Haller from team Charlie + Colin is also in the pits. It sounds like he is trying to give his engines a good old rev up. They are making a lot of noise but one of them is badly backfiring - making loud popping noises! On lap 21, Sam Smith from Boys Toys got the new fastest lap of 43.93. He only just beat Chris's fastest lap! 25 minutes have passed. It is now starting to rain. Wicked! This is going to be great! Let's see how many people spin coming around the top corner. Boys Toys rejoined the race at about the 24 minute mark. Charlie rejoined the race at the 36 minute mark. Now 50 minutes have passed. Boys Toys chain has come off again! But this time it was Adam Kirby driving it. 4 minutes later, Charlie is having kart trouble again. His kart might have some bits of debris in the carburettor because someone ran it out of petrol during the practice laps, which can't have helped it! Nearly 1hr has passed. The track is now bone dry and you wouldn't have known that it rained a bit earlier. Charlie, Colin, Chris Woods and Sean are having a good battle out there at the minute. They are all together on the track but it doesn't matter if they overtake each other because there are laps between them all. 1hr and 10 minutes have how passed. One of the drivers from team Maxis just misjudged one of the corners, maybe he turned in too early, but whatever he did it didn't get him around the corner and he ended up in the tyres. He was well and truly stuck! After only doing a grand total of 73 laps Charlie has given up for tonight and retired
early. There are now only 17 minutes of the race left. The leaderboard is looking a bit like this: 1st - Sean + Dan. 2nd - Chris Woods. 3rd -
A.K.C. 4th - Bad Lads. 5th - Rookies. 6th - Team Maxis. Daniel from team Sean + Dan, Sam Smith from Boys Toys, Chris Woods and Karlos are now having a good battle together. There is 2 minutes of the race left. So Karlos lets them all by when there is about 1 minute to go. But it wouldn't have mattered if he hadn't have let them by because none of them would have lost any positions anyway as there are laps between them all. On lap 145 Daniel got the fastest lap of 43.75. Results |
