| Friday 1st June 2007 Adults & Kids mixed 45 minute solo ProKart Race Race 1 of 2 Kids Adults Well tonight we are a bit thin on the ground! We have 5 kid racers and 5 adult racers for race 1 tonight. I think the racing is going to great though! The adults and the kids might be able to learn something new from each other. It will be interesting to see where they all finish in both races. Will it be a mixed lot up the top? We will have to wait and see! Obviously the points and positions will be done separately. Adult's results and kids results. The points they accumulate from tonight's two races will go towards the other points they have from previous races on the kids and adults leaderboard in the main office. Anyway getting back to the start of race 1. Matt Spragg shot off from his 3rd place starting position straight up in to 1st place. They are on lap 3 and Dave Marshall is up to 2nd already. He came up from right at the back of the grid, from starting in 9th place. 2 laps later and Dave has overtaken Matt Spragg for 1st place overall and 1st in the adults league. Spraggy has now dropped down to 3rd overall because Sam Smith who is now in 2nd overall and 1st in the kid's league just overtook him. Daniel Powley started in 10th place, right at the back of the grid and he is now up in to 4th place overall and 3rd place in the kids league. I'm guessing that most of the regular drivers have gone to sunny Hunny (Hunstanton) for a dip in the sea tonight, as the weather is beautiful. 8 minutes have passed. Dave Marshall has a 5.41 second lead over 2nd place kid racer Daniel Powley. On lap 12, Daniel Powley got the fastest lap of 39.80. 12 minutes have now passed us. Daniel Powley is 7.29 seconds behind 1st place overall adult racer Dave Marshall. Daniel Bowman and Karlos were having a good battle. But 5 minutes later they are both
out of the race for the minute. I think they are both experiencing engine troubles. Ashley Hornigold then decides it's his turn to have a problem. He pulls in to the pits with a puncture! It's all going wrong tonight. Ashley's dad Fred quickly replaces the punctured wheel with a new wheel and off he goes again. But he has already lost a bit of time so he has some catching up to do now. Now 30 minutes have passed. Asbos are in 5th overall. Charlie Cook is in 6th. Big John is in 7th. Daniel Bowman in
8th. There are 8 minutes of the race left to run. Charlie Cook is in the pits looking at his engines. But nothing seems to be wrong because he hops back in and goes out again. However when he pulls out of the pit lane you can hear the engines spluttering so he is shaking his head and he comes back in on the next lap. I think that is him retired for the rest of this first race. Dave Marshall takes the chequered flag with a massive 29.98 lead over 2nd place Daniel Powley. We are now going to have a 15-minute break for the drivers to have a break, have a Kit Kat and check their karts over for any problems. Results for Race 1 Kids Adults ……………………………………………………………………………............................. Race 2 of 2 Kids Adults For the 2nd and final race tonight we have a total of 9 racing. 4 kids and 5 adults. Ashley's dad Fred is racing in this one, obviously as an adult, which is why we have one less kid racer. Asbos are not competing in this one because right at the end of the first race they somehow broke the steering and they haven't got a spare one with them so that's it for them tonight! Daniel Bowman didn't get to start the race. I heard a funny noise in the warm laps but I don't know what happened so it was probably something that fell off his kart. Matt Spragg got off to a good start and shot straight up in to 1st place. Somehow Dave Marshall got himself stuck in the tyres. I think he was trying to get by Spraggy but somehow it didn't go to plan! Anyway on lap 3, (before Dave crashed) he put in a fastest lap of 39.84. Dave has now gone off the track in to the square to fix his kart. 6 minutes have passed. Daniel Powley is leading. Matt Spragg is in 2nd. Sam Smith is in 3rd. Karlos is in 4th and leading overall in the adult's league. Charlie Cook is in 5th. Fred is in 6th. Big John is in 7th. In 8th is Daniel Bowman. 9th is Dave Marshall but he is still in the square at the moment and laps behind everyone else. 6 minutes later at the 12-minute mark, Karlos is sitting out on the grass. Engine trouble again. So that is it for him for tonight. Charlie Cook was leading the adult's league but he is now in the pits and only 16 minutes have passed. He has acquired a puncture from somewhere. Just when the drivers are doing well something bad always seems to happen to make it go belly up! Is it Friday the 13th tonight? Now 23 minutes have passed. Charlie Cook has just rejoined the race. Dave Marshall is also back out there but many laps behind everyone else! Tonight Big John is doing great. Not once has he pulled in with a problem. He just keeps going round. He is consistent which is what we like to see! It's the consistent and steady ones that do well. At the minute he is 2nd in the adults league. The kid racers are dominating the top half of the leaderboard. The top 3 positions remain the same. Daniel Powley is leading. Matt Spragg is 2nd. Sam Smith is 3rd, 0.58 of a second behind. So it is close. On lap 50 Dave Marshall got a new fastest lap of 39.50. There are 5 minutes of the race left. Daniel Bowman is in 5th overall and 4th in the kid's league. He is doing well in this race despite having started one lap later than everyone else did. Results for race 2 Kids Adults |
