| Friday 6th July 2007 Kids 30 minute solo ProKart Race Race 1 of 2 Race 1 Grid positions for the start of Race 1: 9 kids entered the practice time earlier tonight but in the end when it came down to the start of the racing, only 8 decided to take part. Newcomer Dan Zelos has decided not to take part in the races tonight. He hasn't really had enough practice as he only got his kart this week and tonight is the first time that he has really been in it properly. So I don't blame him for not wanting to race tonight. So Dan we will see you next month when you have had a bit more practice. Daniel Bowman set off to a good start. On lap 2, Daniel Powley is up in to 1st place. Sam Smith is still holding 2nd place. Sean Haller is up in to 3rd place. Matt Spragg has dropped down to 5th place. Ashley Hornigold is in 6th place. Nathan Read is in 7th place, 0.15 of a second behind. Nathan is literally riding on Ashley's back bumper, but not if you know what I mean?! Ben Cook is back racing with us tonight. Long time no see mate! The back three, Ashley, Nathan and Ben are having a good battle out there at the moment. There is only 0.of a second between each of them. So one mistake made by any one of them and they could lose it all. On lap 4, Sean Haller got the fastest lap of 42.31. 10 minutes have passed. Nathan has just had a little incident. He lost control coming around the chicane and hit the back end of Ashley. Nathan then spun it and ended up in the tyres. Ben Cook is now up to 6th place. Ashley is in 7th place. Nathan is now down in 8th place after his earlier incident. 4 minutes later and the top 3 drivers are now lapping the backmarkers. Now nearly 20 minutes have gone by. Nathan is back up there now in 5th place. Matt Spragg has suddenly dropped down to 8th place. I don't know what's up with his kart tonight but he is going so slow! Well apparently he has had his engines apart this week and he has put some proper racing oil in them. But I think the oil he put in them must have been a bad batch because they are making him go slower! 6 minutes of the race left to run. The top 3 drivers have been close together all the way through the race and nothing has changed as they are still very close together now. There is 0.of a second between each of them. 2 minutes to go. Tragedy has struck for Daniel Powley. He was on 1st place but he is now down to 3rd place because he had to stop for a little while as he decided that his tyres had too high a pressure in them. So I'm guessing that he stopped to let some air out of them! Results for Race 1 ……………………………………………………………………………............................. Race 2 Race 2 and the kids are starting in a reversed grid from where they finished in race one earlier this evening. Pole - Matt Spragg This time around, Matt Spragg got away to a fast start. He must have put some decent oil in this time! But Spraggy's lead was short lived. On lap 3, Daniel Powley was up in to 1st place from starting in 5th place. Also on lap 3, Sam Smith came up from 6th place in to 3rd place. On lap 5, Daniel Powley got the fastest lap of 42.36. Sean Haller is now up to 2nd place, 5.60 seconds behind Daniel Powley whose still in 1st place. Sam Smith is still holding 3rd place, 0.57 of a second behind 2nd place. Matt Spragg has dropped down to 4th place. Nathan Read is down to 5th. Ashley is behind him in 6th place. Then we have Bowman in 7th place and Ben Cook in 8th place. But the race has only just started and it is early days yet so there is plenty of time for the positions to change around. I think it is safe to say that the positions are definitely going to change before the race is chequered flag! At the minute, 2nd and 3rd places are the only two that are close together. The other 6 are all seconds apart. On lap 16, Sean Haller got the new fastest lap of 42.08. This means that Sean has managed to get the fastest lap in each of the kid's races tonight. Well done Sean! 16 minutes of the race have passed us by. Daniel Bowman has just suddenly gone off the track and on to the square. He must have a problem with his kart. A little bit of time has passed and not much has been happening. Now there is only 8 minutes to go. Daniel Powley is still in 1st place. Sean Haller is in 2nd place, 1.64 seconds behind. In 3rd place is Sam Smith - he has been there nearly all through the race! In 4th place is Matt Spragg. 5th place we have Nathan Read. Ben is holding 6th place, which is where he finished in the first race tonight. In 7th place we have Ashley. And in 8th place we have Daniel Bowman. Now there is only 4 minutes to go.
