| Friday 3rd August 2007 Kids 30 minute solo ProKart Race Race 1 The grid positions shown below are in reverse order from where they finished in race 2 last month - July: Pole - Daniel Bowman For tonight's first race we have 9 kids competing altogether. There was a pile up on the first corner. I heard that Nathan cut across Ben Cook, which spun them both around. Daniel Powley nearly got sent over the top of them both as he clipped one end of their bumpers and hit the tyres. On lap 4, Sam Smith got up in to the lead. Sean Haller is up in to 2nd. Daniel Powley is in 3rd. Daniel Bowman is down to 4th place. Ashley is now down to 5th place. Spraggy has also dropped down one place to 6th. Nathan was last after his earlier incident but is now up one place to 7th. Shane Willis is up one place and now in 8th. Ben Cook is down to 9th after being the victim in the incident earlier. On lap 6, Sean got the fastest lap of 39.36. On lap 7, his mate Daniel Powley matched Sean's fastest lap of 39.36. At the moment the top 3 drivers are very close together. There is 0. of a second between each of them. On lap 12, Daniel Powley is now in 2nd place. Sean Haller is down to 3rd. Their current laptimes are very similar. 10 minutes have gone. Sean got past Daniel on lap 15. But I think he only got by
because Daniel hit the tyres on the top corner full chap and has broken his kart! Anyway
his kart is now undriveable for the rest of this race because it has snapped the yoke off!
14 minutes have now passed. Sean is still maintaining the lead. Sam Smith is in 2nd
place. Bowman is in 4th place. Ashley is in 5th place. Shane is in 6th place. Matt Spragg is in 7th place. He is only 0.48 of a second behind 6th. In 8th place is Ben Cook, 34.31 seconds behind 7th. 4 minutes later. Sean is now trying to overtake backmarker Matt. Sam is trying his best to get through as well but the backmarkers are holding him back. Sam is now 2.01 seconds behind 1st place. There are 3 and a half minutes to go. Ben Cook is in the pits. He has got a flat tyre, one of the rear tyres. Now 2 and a half minutes left. Ashley has moved up to 4th place. Bowman is down to 5th, 0.27 of a second behind. Bowman and Ashley keep swapping places. It has changed again, because Bowman is now back in 4th place and Ashley back down to 5th. Make your mind up guys! They have been having some good battles throughout nearly the entire race. Race 2 The grid positions shown below are reversed from where they finished in race 1, earlier this evening: Pole - Daniel Powley Daniel Powley gets off to a good start from starting on pole. He is currently leading the pack. I'm just wondering if the kids can actually see where they are going down the straight because the sun is shining right in their direction. Ashley has manoeuvred his way up to 2nd place from starting in 4th. Then Nathan suddenly takes over 2nd place. He is 4.94 seconds behind 1st place Dan Powley. Dan has really got to try his best in this race because he missed out on major points in the first one after his kart broke. On lap 5, Daniel got the fastest lap of 39.71. Sam Smith has now made his way up in to 3rd place. 6 minutes have gone. Sam is up one more place in to 2nd now, 10.18 seconds behind 1st place. Sean Haller is in 3rd place, 0.26 of a second. Nathan is in 4th place, 0.24 of a second behind. On lap 7, Daniel Powley got a new fastest lap of 39.54. Matt is in 6th place. Bowman is in 7th place. Bowman is trying hard to get by Matt. And at the minute he is right up his behind! On lap 15, Bowman got past Matt for 6th place. Shane is in 8th place, 0.40 of a second behind. Ben is in 9th place, 0.20 of a second behind. So them two are very close together too. 12 minutes have gone. Daniel Powley is now coming up to overtake the backmarkers. 17 minutes have now gone by. Bowman has dropped down to last place. He was out on the grass a minute a go but he is now back on the track. I don't know what happened to him. Only 5 minutes of the race left to run. Daniel Powley is still leading, 16.32 seconds ahead. Sam Smith is in 2nd. Sean is in 3rd, 15.64 seconds behind. 7th and 8th places are still close together, 0.52 of a second between them. 7th place Shane is close behind 6th place Matt.
