| Friday 20th April 2007 2hr ProKart Endurance Tonight we have a grand total of 11 teams competing. This is the first race/round of the 2007 Summer ProKart Championship. We started off with our normal 15 minutes qualifying. Below are where every team qualified and their team's fastest lap. Pole - Chris Woods - 45.98 Chris Woods is off to a good start. Bad Lads Ben Lambert has squeezed his way up to 2nd place on the first corner just after the race had started. New recruit for Boys Toys - Steve Aldridge is currently sitting in 3rd place, which is one place down from where they started. On lap 3, Ben from Bad Lads overtook Chris Woods for 1st place. So solo man Chris Woods is now down to 2nd, 0.13 of a second behind. 8 minutes have passed. Sean from team Sean + Dan is up to 3rd already. Plus he has the current fastest lap of 45.32 done early on, on lap 9. Chris Woods has now dropped down to 4th. 10 minutes have passed. Bad Lads Ben now has a bigger lead of 1.16 seconds over 2nd place team Boys Toys. Team Rookies must have had a slight mishap or problem somewhere along the line because they are nearly 2 laps down on the other teams. A new recruit to the 2 hour ProKart is Big John. He is going to try and go for as long as he can. So will he able to last for 2hrs? We will have to wait and see! Colin and Charlie are doing a 2hr solo each. The same as they have been doing for the past few 2hr ProKart endurance's. Kart number 5 which is Charlie's will be the one scoring points for them. At some point in the race they will drive each other's karts for some time. 15 minutes have now passed. Ben from Bad Lads came in when his team mate Karlos hadn't even called him in and Karlos wasn't ready. So this major mistake has lost them first place. They must be feeling gutted! 23 minutes have now whizzed by. Charlie and Colin are having their own little battle at the back end of the field. They are only at the back end because they decided to do nearly all of their pit stops in the first ten minutes of the race. Now nearly 30 minutes have gone by. Sean + Dan are in 1st place. Boy's Toys are in 2nd, 5.03 seconds behind. Chris Woods is in 3rd, 0.12 of a second behind. Bad Lads are down in 4th, a long 18.11 seconds behind. Rookies have a nearly brand new 7 kart to play with tonight. Lets hope they don't break anything or damage it! Now 51 minutes have passed us. Sean + Dan are still leading. Bad Lads are now up in to 2nd place. Chris Woods is in 3rd. Boys Toys in 4th. Well, Solo driver Big John has lasted 1hr and 5 minutes. He is currently relaxing in the pits. He is still sitting in his kart though at the minute because he is probably too tired to get out! Bless him. This race so far has been quite eventful. Tonight they are actually racing the full track, which is very twisty, as it has all the corners in. Saga Tours managed to do 74 laps before they broke down. Their throttle cable broke. They did have a spare one but team mate Duncan told me that it was 2 inches too short! What a disaster! Big John has rejoined the race at the 1hr and 15 minutes mark. Team Scorpions who are also known as Steve Pope and Simon Twiddy have come back to race for the summer season. We didn't see them once throughout the winter season so I think it is fair to say that they are fair-weather racers! Though Mr Pope's excuse is normally 'I forgot until it was too late.' Whatever! Anyway they are going well at the moment. But hang on, I have just spoken too soon. As Steve has just brought me his transponder back which means that they have finished for tonight. He tells me that one of his clutches has exploded and that it has springs popping out of it everywhere! 1hr and 25 minutes have now passed. Charlie Haller has lost a wheel! Disaster! His kart is now parked up on the grass with only 3 wheels on it. He was apparently going round one of the fast corners, at quite a speed and he must have misjudged the corner or something because next thing we know he is in the bundle of tyres and the wheel has snapped right off. So he is kart is totally unfixable for now. So his team mate Colin is left to race but it doesn't really matter where A.K.C finishes because their points are not counting. Colin is doing well though. Them early pit stops he done have now paid off because whilst the other teams are still doing theirs he is not. He is moving up and gaining positions. Anyway only 25 minutes of the race is left. We have 8 teams left racing as the other 3 have all retired early due to mechanical problems, which take an age to fix! Boy's Toys Docky dropped his pit ball so he had to come in on the next lap and put it in properly. Later on when he had finished his stint he said 'Did you see that? I have never done that before!' 1hr and 41 minutes have gone. A.K.C have moved up to 4th, dropping Bad Lads down to 5th place. On lap 150, Daniel from team Sean + Dan got a new overall fastest lap of 45.26. This was done just laps before he took the chequered flag. Chris Woods has held on to his 2nd place position. He has done very well considering he was doing a 2hr solo! Results |
