| Friday 2nd March 2007 Adults 45 minute solo ProKart Race Race 1 Pole - Simon Craig Tonight we have a total of 10 adults competing in race one. Simon Craig got off to a rocketing start from his pole position starting place. By lap 3, Keith Woods was up to 2nd from starting way back in 7th place. These top 2 drivers have a fairly big lead over the other 8 drivers. Pete Rodgers is holding his 3rd place position well. He started off in 3rd and 4 minutes in to the race and he is still there. Keith is closing in on Simon very quickly. On lap 5, Charlie Haller is now up in 3rd place. This has proceeded to drop Pete to
4th. After 6 minutes had passed, Keith Woods had now got in to 1st. Simon is now in 2nd, 1.18 seconds behind. Big boy, Steve Futter only managed to do 10 laps before he decided to retire early. Apparently in the first couple of laps of the race he hit a bundle of tyres that have now made his ribs hurt. So he must have hit them at a high speed! 10 minutes have gone. Charlie Haller is in 2nd place, 2.47 seconds behind Keith whose currently leading. Keith and Charlie are the only ones to be lapping in the 39 seconds. It is a fast track configuration that they are racing tonight. On lap 15, Charlie Haller got the fastest lap of 39.82. Docky is now up in to 3rd. Chris Woods is now in 5th. Colin is up in to 6th, 0.53 of a second behind 5th place, Chris Woods. Richard Clouting is down in 7th. He started off in 4th, so he has dropped 3 places in the space of 15 minutes! Charlie Cook is way down in 8th. He is testing a kart for us tonight. Pete Rodgers has retired early after only doing 18 laps. He is now in the square. I later found out that one of his wheel hubs keeps moving back and forth. This is obviously a major problem as it is stopping him from going very fast and gaining positions. Let's hope he can get it fixed before race 1, later tonight. On lap 19, Charlie Haller got a new fastest lap of 39.80. There is 21 minutes of the race left. Keith is in 1st. Charlie Haller is in 2nd, 0.70 of a second behind. Charlie is getting closer to Keith on every lap. Earlier they had a bit of a tussle, which could have ended up turning sour, but thankfully it didn't and all is fine now. Charlie Cook has retired after doing a mighty 34 laps. I think he is tired and out of
shape! On lap 40, Keith got the new fastest lap of 39.74. 31 minutes have gone by. Colin is back in the pits. He is saying something about tyre pressures. Anyway he has a little fiddle with his tyres and 3 minutes later he rejoins the race again. On lap 49, Charlie beats Keith's fastest lap and puts in a flyer, 39.70. There is not long to go now before the race comes to an end. Chris Woods is up to 4th. Simon is down to 5th. Richard has made it up one place to 6th. And after Colin's two unplanned pit stops he is now down in 7th. Only 6 minutes to go. Steve Futter rejoins the race for the last few minutes so his ribs must be better now. Results - Race 1 ............................. Race 2 For this race they are starting in a reversed grid from where they finished earlier tonight, in race one. Pole - Pete Rodgers Pete Rodgers shot off to a smooth and quick start. He has Richard Clouting in 2nd, not far behind him. 4 minutes in to the race. Chris Woods is up in to 1st place, from starting in 5th. Keith Woods is up in to 2nd, 0.30 of a second behind. Charlie Haller is in 3rd from starting in 7th. He is 0.82 of a second behind. Colin is up to 4th from starting in 8th, 3.92 seconds behind Charlie. Father and Son, Keith and Chris Woods are fighting for 1st and 2nd places. 8 minutes have passed. Keith is now in 1st. Chris is in 2nd, 0.69 of a second behind. 1 minute later, at 9 minutes, Charlie Haller has dropped right down to 8th, last place. It turns out that he just slightly clipped the tyres and it has snapped the wheel and hub right off! What a mess! But all is not lost because Charlie decides to go out in his son, Sean's kart. He hasn't bothered to put a transponder on it though because he isn't worried about where he finishes now. He just wants to race his mate, Colin. Keith and Chris keep swapping 1st and 2nd places. On lap 11, Keith got the fastest lap of 40.01. It is now starting to rain. Good, this will bring us some excitement! 14 minutes have gone. Pete Rodgers is holding up well in 4th place. In 7th, we have Charlie Cook. He is racing Steve Futter's kart, just to try it out. 23 minutes have gone. Chris is now in 1st place. His dad, Keith is back in 2nd, 11.87 seconds behind. 29 minutes have now gone. Charlie Cook is in the pits, having retired early again after only doing 38 laps. I tell you this man is just not up to it! Colin is up to 2nd, 16.75 seconds behind Chris whose still in 1st. Keith is now way down in 6th. Something must have happened to him. Then I looked out of the door and saw that his kart is literally parked on top of the tyres! It turns out that he clipped the tyres and it has broken one of his stub axles. Anyway nearly everyone is finding it hard to stay on the track as it is raining harder
now. Pete Rodgers is now up in to 3rd. Thankfully his kart has behaved itself for the duration so far of this second race and the hub has stayed in the right place. Simon Craig is in 5th, 11.61 seconds behind 4th place Richard Clouting. Now the track is wet the laptimes are 10, 11 and 12 seconds slower than in the dry laptimes. In the dry they were doing 39, 40 and 41 seconds. Now they are doing 51, 52 and 53 seconds. Some even as bad as 58 seconds! What's going on?! Results - Race 2 |
