| Friday 1st December 2006 Adults 45 minute solo ProKart Race First round of the winter series Race 1 of 2 Pole - Andy Bell Andy Bell should have been starting on pole tonight, in this first race but he won't be. He has complete brake failure and I'm sure he would need them tonight as its very wet and the track is slippery. 10 adults competing. We are a bit down on numbers tonight; it is probably because of the dull weather. But it is winter now so we cant complain, can we! Fred Hornigold didn't manage one lap. He is sitting out on the grass, watching the others pass him by. Karlos from team Bad Lads had a spin on lap one, but it didn't really matter because he started off in 11th place anyway. Steven Knowles has made his way up to 1st from his 5th place starting position. On lap 4, Charlie Haller takes the lead. Dropping Steven to 2nd, 2.58 seconds behind. Adam Kirby is racing in the place of Docky tonight. He has made his way up to 3rd. Steven suddenly dropped down to 6th. He must of made a mistake or spun. This is the first time Nick Rodgers has raced in months and he is already up to 2nd. Karlos from team AKC is up to 4th. On lap 7, he moves up to 3rd, dropping Adam Kirby to 4th. Simon Craig is in 5th, down one position, as he originally started in 4th. Only 7 minutes of the race has gone. The positions are changing on every lap. I can't keep track of it! 1 minute later, Fred Hornigold finally starts the race, 7 laps down on 9th place team The Asbos. 10 minutes gone, Karlos is now up to 2nd, 9.74 seconds behind Charlie Haller whose still holding out in 1st place. Charlie gets the new fastest lap of 46.01 done on lap 4. Nick has dropped down one place to 3rd. His dad, Pete Rodgers is up in to 4th, 14.01 seconds behind his son, Nick. Another fastest lap by Charlie, 45.70 done on lap 29. Fred Hornigold is back in the square, having only done 15 laps, something must be seriously wrong with his kart. Colin Powley is sitting out of the winter series so he can watch both the kid's and the adult's races. He can then hopefully give them some pointers on what they are doing wrong and how they can put it right and improve their driving. We are hoping that his constructive criticism will stop all the nudging and barging etc that sometimes goes on during these races. Another new fastest lap by Charlie, 45.67 done on lap 49. Karlos is still in 2nd. His own fastest lap is 46.22 done on lap 54. So Charlie is the only one to currently be lapping in the 45 seconds. The rest of the team's laps are in the 47, 48 and 49 seconds. Results - Race 1 1. Charlie Haller ............................. Race 2 of 2 In a reversed grid from earlier adult's race, race one. Pole - The Asbos 9 drivers started the race. During the 2 formation laps, Charlie Cook was still sitting in the pits. One of his pull cords has come right out, got stuck there and it won't go back in. Anyway one lap after the start, Charlie Cook joins in the race. Let's hope he can make some time up and get up there with the others. It is raining heavier now, which is making it harder to drive in. Steven Knowles is going very slowly. It took him 2 and a half minutes to do just one lap! Something must have fallen off or something. 8 minutes have gone; Charlie Haller is in 1st, up from 10th place starting position. Steve Aldridge is up to 2nd, 5.32 seconds behind 1st. Colin Powley has decided to compete in this 2nd race. It is mainly just so him and his mate, Charlie Haller, can have a play together. Anyway Colin is currently in 3rd, 0.74 of a second behind Steve Aldridge, racing for Docky. Charlie Cook is up to 8th, despite starting the race a lap later than everyone else did. Good work Charlie, keep it up! 22 minutes have gone now; Steven Knowles is out of the race. I heard on the grapevine that his chain fell off. So he probably couldn't be bothered to put it back on. New fastest lap by Charlie Haller with a 45.55 done on lap 24. Colin is up to 2nd now, with his own personal fastest lap of 45.69 done on lap 24, the same as when Charlie got the overall fastest lap. 13 minutes of the race left. It is still raining, and it is still coming down very hard. Results - Race 2 1. Charlie Haller |
